Fliski Guitars offer a full custom shop service but also offer repairs, modifications and maintenance to any stringed instrument.

I get many E-mails each day asking a multitude of questions, here is a brief FAQ section which can hopefully answer some of these questions for you.

How much would it cost to build a guitar for me?”

This is the most common question I receive, however the answer greatly depends on what you would like in the guitar. Certain materials cost more, certain types of guitar take longer to build and all of these features alter the cost. As a basic guide, here are a few prices;

A standard Maverick which includes; Ash or Alder body, Maple neck with a Maple or Rosewood fingerboard with MOP or Acryllic inlays, Bareknuckle single coil pickups and Gotoh Hardware has a base price of £1300

A Caravelle including; Korina body, Maple or Walnut neck with a Santos Rosewood, Maple or an Ebony Fingerboard with a MOP leaf inlay, Bareknuckle Humbuckers and Gotoh Hardware has a base price of £1600

”What custom options do you offer?”

The simple answer to that is anything that I can source. That means, I am willing to use any kind of wood or material as long as I can get hold of it (I have suppliers that are very good at sourcing special materials for me). From through necks to hollow bodies, I am willing to build your guitar how you want it!

” Can you build a neck or a body for me?”

Yes I can, I have built many unpainted or unfinished components for people wanting to build their own guitar but with custom made parts

”I have some sketches of a custom guitar I would like you to build, can you?”

Absolutely! Even if you have a guitar designed on a napkin, I would be more than happy to draw it out full sized make it a workable design

”Will I get updates of the guitar build as it happens?”

Of course, I can send you pictures as your guitar is being built, you can also call or E-mail me with any questions. I like to get to know each customer personally as it gives me a better idea of exactly what they’re looking for in their guitar

” What kind of finishes can you do?”

I use Waterbased lacquer as it is non toxic, is very durable and looks great! I can also finish in traditional Nitrocellulose and oils. The only kind of finish that I will not use is Polyurethane

”How long will it take for my guitar to be built?”

This time will vary slightly, but the average completion time is 8-10 weeks

”Can you build my guitar out of my own materials?”

Absolutely! As long as the timber is seasoned fully and down to about 10% moisture content then I can build your guitar with it

”Can you refinish a guitar I have?”

Yes I can, the only reservations I have is with valuable vintage instruments as a refinish can seriously harm the value

”Can you change the pickups/wiring in my guitar?”

I have a strong background in guitar electronics, so I would be more than happy to improve the electronics, I have also tried a large amount of different pickups so I can help you decide which ones are going to work best with your style of playing

”My guitar won’t stay in tune or the action isn’t good can you improve this?”

I offer full setups, including; intonation, action, fret dressing or re-frets and replacement nuts
